The Slynx Book by Tatyana Tolstaya

Written by Russian author Tatyana Tolstaya, The Slynx is a satirical, post-apocalyptic, and dystopian novel originally published in 2000. Set in a future Moscow, it explores the collapse of civilization and the power of literature in a society that has regressed into a primitive state.

Two hundred years after an event known as "The Blast," civilization is a ruin. Those born before the event, called "Oldeners," are immortal and recall the previous world, while those born after suffer from various mutations, or "Consequences". The people live a simple, fearful life in a city-state called Fyodor-Kuzmichsk (once Moscow), surviving on mice for sustenance and currency.
